WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — New Hanover County Commissioners unanimously approved next year’s budget today.
The budget includes a tax rate of just over 55 cents per $100 of property value. That’s a revenue neutral rate.
Commissioners agreed to cap the cost of potential renovations to 320 Chestnut Street at $10 million. They’ll wait through June to see if someone wants to buy the office building.
Commissioners also honored many retiring county employees at today’s meeting, including long time County Manager Bruce Shell.
Today was Shell’s final board meeting as manager. Commissioners adopted a special resolution recognizing his service.
Assistant County Manager Chris Coudriet will succeed Shell at the end of the month.
